Therapy for Depression and Anxiety

🌧️ Therapy for Depression and Anxiety in Chicago & Across Illinois

You’re not broken. You’re overwhelmed, exhausted, or hurting- and you don’t have to carry it alone.

Depression and anxiety are two of the most common reasons people seek therapy, but at Gemstone Wellness, we know they don’t always look the way you expect. Sometimes anxiety shows up as perfectionism, chronic overthinking, or sleepless nights. Sometimes depression feels like flatness, irritability, or just going through the motions. Sometimes you’re just so tired of pretending you're okay.

We’re here for all of it- with warmth, depth, and care.

Our therapists don’t rush to label or fix you. We want to understand how you got here, what’s been working to survive, and what healing might look like on your terms. You deserve therapy that centers your voice, your story, and your nervous system- not just a diagnosis or workbook.

🌿 How We Work with Anxiety and Depression

We approach therapy for depression and anxiety as a collaborative and relational process, not a one-size-fits-all treatment. You might explore:

  • The roots of your inner critic or chronic self-doubt

  • How trauma and grief have shaped your emotional landscape

  • The pressure to perform, achieve, or be “okay” for others

  • How family, culture, or identity shape your sense of self

  • What happens in your body when fear or hopelessness sets in

We may incorporate grounding tools, mindfulness, body-based awareness, or parts work- but only if they feel supportive to you. Some days we sit in the mess together. Other days we map, plan, or gently challenge old patterns. It’s all welcome.

We treat:

  • Generalized anxiety and chronic worry

  • Social anxiety and self-consciousness

  • Panic attacks or intrusive thoughts

  • Low self-worth and feelings of inadequacy

  • Persistent sadness or emotional flatness

  • Shame, self-blame, and internalized criticism

  • Burnout, isolation, and emotional exhaustion

You don’t need to be “sick enough” to deserve support. You’re allowed to want more ease, meaning, or self-understanding—even if things look “fine” on the outside.

🧠 Therapy that Respects Your Context

We know that mental health is shaped by systems, identities, and experiences. You won’t be asked to “breathe through it” if what you need is to grieve, rage, or rest. Our therapists offer culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and LGBTQIA2S+ affirming care.

📍 In-Person or Telehealth

We offer sessions in our downtown Chicago office (near Jackson & Dearborn) and via telehealth anywhere in Illinois. Therapy is available in English and Spanish. We’re in network with Blue Cross and Aetna PPO plans and offer superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.
