Hello! I’m Alina Trinidad, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). I work with individuals navigating addiction, trauma, and anxiety, and am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
If you’re feeling like every day is a constant uphill climb, like you’re repeating the same frustrating patterns over and over, or like no matter what you try, nothing seems to stick, you’re not alone. Maybe you wake up already drained, or feel like the weight of expectations, responsibilities, and old habits is just too much.
It’s exhausting to keep going on your own, wondering if things will ever feel different. Together, we can focus on finding small, practical tools and strategies that actually make day-to-day life feel lighter, clearer, and a little more doable so you can start to feel like yourself again.
I care deeply about creating a space where you feel comfortable being yourself. Opening up can be hard and it takes a lot of courage to talk about the parts of your life that feel painful, confusing, or unresolved. I work intentionally to make therapy feel warm, welcoming, and supportive, so you don’t feel rushed or judged as you share your story.
I’m trained in EMDR and use it to help process difficult experiences, including trauma. At the same time, our work isn’t just about revisiting the past. It’s about understanding what’s showing up for you now and figuring out what helps you feel more grounded, steady, and in control. You set the pace, and we work together to decide what feels most helpful.
I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, with a concentration in addictions, and I also hold my CADC. I’ve worked in residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) settings, which has given me experience supporting people at many different points in their recovery and healing.
Outside of sessions, I love finding new cafés and restaurants with friends and family. Those small moments of connection and enjoyment matter, and they’re something I encourage clients to make space for in their own lives, too.
Above all, I believe change is possible, even when it feels far away. I’m here to support you as you build skills, strengthen resilience, and move toward a life that feels more balanced and more like your own.
“Trauma and substance abuse often go hand in hand. I am trained to work with both. I want my clients to know that I am their ally and am rooting for them every step of the way. There is always hope!”
