Adult Autism Assessments In Chicago and across the U.S.
Online Autism Assessments That Finally Make Sense of the Whole Picture
Realizing you might be Autistic as an adult is rarely a single moment — it's usually years of quiet suspicion, a diagnosis that never quite fit, or watching your child get evaluated and recognizing yourself on every page.
You'll receive an evaluation that is clinically rigorous, neurodivergent-affirming, and built specifically for adults — especially women and gender-diverse adults — who were missed, masked, or misdiagnosed along the way.
Whether you've suspected this for years or only recently connected the dots, you can rely on a thorough, compassionate, and clinically credible assessment process from start to finish.
Who this adult Autism assessment is for:
- Adults who've always suspected they might be Autistic
- Women and gender-diverse adults labeled "sensitive" or "eccentric" instead of recognized
- Adults previously diagnosed with anxiety, depression, or BPD that never fully fit
- Late-identified and self-identified Autistic adults seeking formal diagnosis
- Parents recognizing their own patterns after a child's diagnosis
- Adults exploring AuDHD (Autism and ADHD together)
Our process is designed to be thorough without being overwhelming:
- Two clinical interviews covering developmental history, sensory profile, and current functioning
- Completion of validated self-report measures, including the RAADS-R, AQ, CAT-Q, and ASRS v1.1
- A collateral questionnaire (SCQ) completed by someone who knew you in childhood
- A dedicated feedback session to walk through your results together
- A comprehensive written report with clear diagnostic findings, recommendations, and resources.
Each report is structured to clearly document your history, symptoms, and clinical findings — including the cost of masking and the functional impact on your daily life. This is all presented in a way that gives you real diagnostic clarity, not just a checklist.
Clients trust our process because it results in a thorough, affirming evaluation that helps them finally understand themselves — and gives them a clear, actionable path forward.
If you've been waiting for someone to take your questions seriously, this is that moment. Every adult autism assessment at Gemstone Wellness is built to give you something concrete — not a maybe, not a "you could look into it," but a real answer, backed by real testing, from a clinician who understands this from the inside.

A Note From Dr. Martin:
As a kid, I remember watching other children navigate the world with a kind of fluency I didn't have. They seemed to just know — what to say, when to look away, how to read a room without trying. I was smart, I was a "good student," a high achiever by every visible measure — but underneath that, I was anxious, confused, and quietly certain that everyone else had gotten a manual I'd never received.
What I didn't realize at the time is that I'd made an entire study out of the thing that confused me most: people. Language. Social interaction. Psychology, long before I called it that. It became my special interest — and I got so good at it that by adulthood, I could move through almost any room with ease. I built fluency the hard way, by studying it like a subject, not absorbing it like a native language. It worked. But it came at a cost I didn't have words for until much later — the exhaustion of constant translation, the sense of performing a version of myself that was technically accurate but never quite mine.
So many people — women especially — slip through the cracks the way I did. High-achieving. "Fine." Quietly anxious, quietly exhausted, quietly wondering why something that seemed effortless for everyone else took so much out of them. I built this assessment arm for exactly that person. Not to hand you a label and send you on your way, but to give you real language — and the tools and resources to use it — so you can stop bending yourself to fit the world, and start making the world bend a little for you.

This Assessment Might Be for You If —
- You've always felt like you were translating yourself for everyone else, in real time
- You were called "highly sensitive," "gifted," "quirky," or "a lot" long before anyone said "autistic"
- You're exhausted in a way that doesn't match how your life looks from the outside
- You've been diagnosed with anxiety, depression, or borderline personality disorder — and something about that never fully fit
- Sensory environments (fluorescent light, certain fabrics, noise, crowds) cost you more than they seem to cost other people
- You've watched your child get evaluated and started recognizing yourself in every page of the paperwork
- You've done the RAADS-R or the AQ online at 1 a.m. more than once
If any of this lands, you're not imagining it. You're describing a pattern — and patterns can be assessed.
Why This Looks Different From What You'll Find Elsewhere
Most adult autism "screenings" are a single questionnaire and a form letter. Many clinicians still evaluate autistic women against a diagnostic picture built almost entirely on observations of young boys — which is exactly why so many of you were missed, misread, and handed a different diagnosis instead.
At Gemstone, the evaluation is led personally by Jenny Martin, PsyD, a licensed clinical psychologist whose clinical lens is trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming, and built around exactly this population: adults — especially women and gender-diverse adults — whose autism was masked, misdiagnosed, or missed entirely.
This isn't a checklist. It's a full diagnostic process that treats masking as a clinical finding in its own right, not a reason to doubt what you're describing.
